Swap Fees
Do fees on Osmosis differ when users swap to or from different tokens? On average, which tokens have the highest and lowest swap fees on Osmosis?
Osmosis is a DEX blockchain that's a zone of the Cosmos Hub ecosystem, thus making it compatible with networks using the Inter-Blockchain Communication (IBC) protocol, like Terra. Osmosis has a customizable AMM that's different from ones like Uniswap and Curve because it allows users to deploy sovereign liquidity pools. This means that each Osmosis liquidity pool is like an independent decentralized autonomous organization (DAO), where liquidity providers can vote to change the parameters of the AMM formula for their pool.

Average Fees in Osmo By Token
If we look at the first graph we can see the total fees on Osmo over time by token, as you can see over time the amount paid in fees had grown and spiked massively in the middle of May all the way up to around 110 Osmo in one day, after that it dropped down massively but the spiked again shortly later to over 120 Osmo in fees in a single day. If we move onto the next metric we can see a breakdown of how much fees have been paid through trades with each token. The top three are Osmo, Atom, and USTC which have total fee volumes of 1439, 681, and 443 Osmo respectively. Overall there are many tokens on Osmo but these three along with a few others make up the wide majority of the fee volume on Osmosis.
If we look at the first graph in this section we can see a similar trend to that of the first graph with a slight upward trend and then a massive spike in late May. If we look at this graph we can see that the fees paid on Osmosis are very minimal with the average fees being a small fraction of an Osmo. If we look at the final graph we can see the fees of each coin along with a line in the middle which represents the overall average fee cost on Osmo. As you can see the wide majority of the coins are below the line meaning they have less than average fees although there are several coins that are above this line, and some that are above this line by a large margin. These coins are Evmos, axlDAI, axlUSDC, axlWBTC, and axlWETH. The two with the largest fees are axlWBTC and axlWETH which have fees of .0042 and .0035 Osmo respectively. As you can see these fees are very low even for the highest coins. Some of the coins with the lowest fees are BLOCK and KRTC although there are many with low fees, these coins both have fees of less than .00015 Osmo.
