FLOW Speed (redux)
Flow Chain
Flow is a decentralized, fast, and developer-friendly blockchain designed to accelerate the growth of a new class of apps, games, and digital collectibles. Each platform feature was plotted from the ground up to provide exceptional experiences at the mainstream level. Initially developed by Dapper Labs, Flow is backed and built by a vibrant community of brands and developers.
The Flow blockchain leverages a PoS mechanism and a multi-node architecture to obtain consensus. The PoS mechanism allows FLOW holders to stake their tokens and generate passive income by running validator nodes or delegating their tokens to a recognized node.
Scopes
- Daily and Average Daily Overall Network Status
- Blocks Performance
- Top Events by different terms
Method
- there are two columns in the overall status:
- Daily Activity: these charts show the activity per day
- Average Daily in Month: these are the average of daily activities in a month, which shows the average activity in that month.
- we will compare Flow with Ethereum, Optimism, and Gnosis.
- Block time is the time in seconds that a block takes to confirm.

๐ Observations
- Tokens Deposits and Withdraw which are for Transfering Tokens are the most used events. Fees Deducted is used for Fees in Flow Network is also used most.
- MomentPuchased event with 1.72M failed transactions in Feb has the highest failure rate in the Flow chain. in the next place, MomentListed and OfferAvailable with 372.2K and 241.5K in Sep and Jul have the highest failure rate.

๐ Observations
- Optimism has only one Transaction in each block and it is constant. Gnosis has 4-5 Transactions in a block. Flow is a bit higher and more volatile, in recent weeks it reached 29 transactions, but the average is 16-22 transactions. Ethereum has the highest number with 170-180 transactions but it dropped a bit in the last weeks and reached 133-150 transactions in each block.
- Optimism has the lowest time per block and it was decreasing and getting better, in Jan it was above one second but in the last weeks, it reached 0.11 seconds. The flow was constant and around 0.6 - 0.7 seconds. Gnosis time against the other chains increased a bit from 2.5 sec to even 3.5 sec in September and October but it decreased to 2.7 in November again. Ethereum had the highest time with 6.7 seconds but it was decreasing and reached 6 sec in September.
๐ Observations
- Transactions: Flow Total Transaction Volume started to increase heavily in May and could cross over Ethereum in June. in November again Flow had more transactions than Ethereum. in June and November, there was a burst of transaction volume which caused a significant drop in success rate.
- TPM: Ethereum with a Daily Average of 750-780 transactions per minute has the highest TPM, the Flow is close to Ethereum but itโs too volatile.
- Success Rate: Ethereum with a 96%-97% success rate has the highest rate and is the most stable one. Flow and Gnosis are too volatile, and Flow in October and November falls to 90%-69%. on average Gnosis has the lowest rate.
- Failed Transaction Volume: the flow chain in November has a huge volume of Failures and on a daily average has 363.6K Failure Transactions while this number for Ethereum which is in the next place is 29K.
- Daily Users: Ethereum had close to 390K daily unique users in most months. Flow users spiked in November and from 42.6K in October reached 190.7K. but until the middle of December, itโs low again even lower than optimism.
- Volatility and Success Rate: by increasing the Transaction volume in the Flow chain (above 800K) the success rate fall and gets too volatile. Gnosis is also too volatile. Ethereum is the most stable one and is above 95% on average.
