Polygon Block Performance
What is the average time between blocks on Polygon?
What is Polygon?
Polygon is a “layer two” or “sidechain” scaling solution that runs alongside the Ethereum blockchain — allowing for speedy transactions and low fees.
What’s This Dashboard All About?
in this dashboard we going to analyze minimum and maximum recorded time between two blocks in Polygon Network, the average number of transaction done in each block and compare these metrics with other Layer 1 Protocols, Sidechains and Ethereum Roll-Up Layer 2 Solutions like Optimism and Arbitrum.
Observations and Verdicts
- Compared to L1s Polygon performs significantly better than Ethereum but falls behind Near, Solana and Flow in terms of Average Block Time, and since it stores 75 transactions on average it has higher TPS than Near and Flow and Ethereum but falls behind Solana by a large margin.
- Compared to other Sidechain, Polygon performs better than BSC but falls behind Gnosis in terms of Minimum Block Time, it has higher TPS than Gnosis but similar TPS compared to BSC.
- both Ethereum roll-up L2s perform better in terms of having lower average Block Time but fall behind in terms of Average TPS, Optimism has better TPS than arbitrum and arbitrum team plans to get closer in competition by introduction of arbitrum Nitro upgrade. the main advantage of these L2s is that they use ethereum’s security as they eventually settle their transactions on the mainnet.
