Daily Transactions and Unique Addresses

    Question:

Count and plot the number of daily transactions and unique addresses on Polygon, beginning July 1, 2022.

    \n

In your estimation, discuss whether Polygon is still growing, has reached a plateau, etc.

    Methodology:

In this dashboard we will be looking at the number of daily transactions and unique addresses since July 1st.

To find the transactions, we would be using the transactions sub-table under the polygon table. To get the count over time, we would be summing the daily transactions arranged by day

For unique addresses, there are 2 classifications- Those who transact daily and those who have transacted since the date in consideration (here 1st July). For the first we would be summing in the same process as that for transactions. For the second one, we would be finding the first use transaction and then sum it over the daily number of users transacting.

    Summary:

We would be looking at the following dashboards:

    • Daily Transactions along with Cumulative Transactions on Polygon since July 1st
    • Daily Addresses along with Cumulative Addresses on Polygon since July 1st (Sum of those who have used it daily)
    • Daily Addresses along with Cumulative Addresses on Polygon since July 1st (Sum of those who have used atleast once from July 1st and when have they transacted on it)

    Explanation , Insights & Conclusions:

23M+ transactions have already taken place in July alone from about 2M+ addresses who have transacted daily implying that if an address transacts , the average the address transacts on Polygon is at about 10 or more transactions! This is a huge figure since 10 transactions is the average which implies that many users would also be transacting more than 10 times a day. About 2M transactions take place daily from about 200k users . Next, let’s view the daily and cumulative unique addresses (based on the second type of classification):

    Explanation & Insights:

About 1M unique users have transacted a total of about 25M transactions in the first 10 days of July implying that about 25 transactions are made by each user on an average which is a whopping figure!! This implies that Polygon is in a matured state

    Conclusions:

We can conclude that Polygon is in a very advanced state as on an average the number of transactions per user is about 25 in just the first 10 days of July

About 25M transactions have been made by 1M unique users while these many transactions have been made by about 2M daily users (daily users summed over time). This means that about half or less of the users are daily users but they are responsible for such a high number of transactions
