Sol Staking Madness

    Question:

How has staking pool behavior on Solana responded to recent events?

Analyze Flipside's new staking pools data to analyze staking behavior in the Solana ecosystem over the past week. How are stakers responding to recent events? Have there been any notable inflows or outflows to staking pools? What staking pools have seen the most notable behavior? Can you link any staking behavior to other defi activity or other accounts on Solana?

Note any trends or outliers you see.

    Methodology:

    • To get the data, mainly the solana.core.ez_staking_actions was used. This was initially used to calculate the various stats (single numbers)
    • After that, these stats were calculated over time
    • Next, validator distribution was tabulated and the top 3 validators over time was considered by transaction/ volume

    How to Use?

To view the last N days of transactions enter the stats you wish to see for the last N days. By default, N=7 (a week)

    Summary:

In this dashboard we would look into the following:

    • Total Transactions Delegate/ Withdrawn in the past few days
    • Net Amount in $ Staked (taking current price as 15$)
    • Net Amount in SOL Staked
    • Total Validators
    • Total Transactions Daily Delegate/ Withdraw
    • Total Amount Deposited/ Withdrawn over time
    • Daily Unique Validators to which SOL was delegated/ withdrawn
    • Withdrawn vs delegated by transactions
    • Withdrawn vs delegated by amount
    • Solana Validators by Transactions & Volume

Top 3 Vlaidtors Over time by transactions and Volume of Stake/Unstake

    Solana Validator Distribution

    Solana Staking Stats

    Solana Staking Stats Over Time

    Conclusions:

    • The net amount withdrawn had shot up on Nov 9th and Nov 10th showing a correlation with the announcement of the collapse of the FTX Exchange and Alameda Research
    • There is a correlation between the volume and transactions as can be seen from the data above. The top transactions and volume has seen the correlation by validator as well
    • The amount withdrawn is more than the amount deposited.
    • By transactions, it seems that the amount might have been the same for deposits and withdrawals. But it changes when one looks at the amount

    Explanation & Insights:

    • At the time of analysis, the net amount staked in $ is at about 512M$
    • The total transactions delegate/withdrawn stands at about 40k
    • The total unique validators ever as of today stands at 1224 validators

    Explanation & Insights:

    • The amount withdrawn at the time of analysis is at about 32M SOL (for the past 7 days)

    • There have been at about 21k transactions for withdraw and 18.3k transactions deposit
