Terra - Voting Records

Select two Terra Validators of your choice and compare their voting history (governance votes). Off-chain data can be used to support your answer, but you must also utilize Flipside data in your answer to be eligible for full payment. BONUS: Can you find any proposals where your chosen validators voted differently? Why do you think this might be the case?

What is voting in the Terra Ecosystem?

In the Terra Ecosystem anyone, who wants to and holds Luna, can submit a proposal, which will then be voted on within the community. Anyone holding Luna can also vote for these proposals. But, because of holding huge amounts of Luna, validators have very high voting power on proposals and should be chosen wisely.

What is a validator? What is voting power?

Validators are running full nodes to verify transactions in the Terra network to secure the blockchain. Also anyone can stake their Luna at these validators to earn staking rewards. The more Luna these validators hold the more voting power they have. The higher the voting power the more influence on the Terra Ecosystem they have. Voting power is defined through the amount of Luna delegated to a validator.

    The latest proposal

Flipside and Angel Protocol and their votes

I would like to take a closer look at these two validators, Flipside and Angel Protocol. Both haven't voted jet for example for proposal #178.

The list below shows all proposals the two voted on, most of the time with the same votes and in a few with different votes.

*) For some proposals there were no titles and descriptions in the database, so i added those manually from Terra Station data.

    Different votes

In only three votes, we can see below, these two validators voted differently on the proposals.

So why did they vote differently?

I can't really answer this question, but i think every validator has its own interests. Some have their own community others their own business ... so they will always vote on what is the best for their business interests or for their community. Some validators are very transparent to their community and also to the terra community. In this case Flipside is very transparent, they inform their community and also everyone following them on twitter on how they voted and more important why. You can see some examples at the bottom of the page.
