Daily Transactions and Unique Addresses
Q1. Count and plot the number of daily transactions and unique addresses on Polygon, beginning July 1, 2022. In your estimation, discuss whether Polygon is still growing, has reached a plateau, etc.
Overview
In this dashboard for checking the growth of Polygon in July 2022 and its users' activity, we did the following steps:
- Calculating the number of daily transactions
- Calculating the number of wallets that have been created since July 2022
- Finding the top ten activities
- Computing the daily volume transferred
- Checking the swaps transactions and the number of daily swappers
- Calculating the number of voting transactions since July 2022
Methodology
For doing this bounty, we used the below tables from the flipside Crypto:
- polygon.core.fact_transactions: for calculating the number of transactions and unique users
- polygon.core.fact_event_logs: for choosing the top ten event activities and also the number of swap and vote transactions
- polygon.core.ez_matic_transfers: for computing the volume of MATIC transferred
Daily transactions and Unique addresses
The line chart on the right shows the number of transactions and unique addresses since July 1st. In this period, 1.2M unique addresses had 31M transactions. The trend of the number of transactions was descending, and for unique addresses was relatively sideways, which decreased the interest in using Polygon.
Matic transferred volume
The line chart on the right shows the number of Matic senders and the number of transferred transactions since July 1st, and the following bar chart shows the $USD amount of Matic transferred. In this interval, 525K wallets had 2.3M transferred transactions with a total value of 775M $USD. Accordingly, in the first week of July, the trend of transferred transactions was ascending, but in the second week, it turned its direction and dropped significantly.
Newly created wallets
The bar chart on the right shows the number of new wallets created since July. Accordingly, the trend of creating new wallets was descending, which means the less enthusiasm for using Polygon by new users.
Hint: Because of the polygon.core.fact_transactions table
doesn’t show the polygon transactions since its beginnings, the first bar in the chart (June 30th) includes errors inherently, but after July 1st, this error decreased.
Swaps and unique swappers
The right-side line chart shows the daily number of swaps and unique swappers on polygon since July 1st. In this period, 207K swappers swapped 1.8M times. Like the previous charts, the trend of swap transactions was descending, showing the lack of interest for swaps during this period.
Conclusion
- Since July, the tendency to use Polygon decreased in terms of number of transactions, number of unique addresses, number of new wallets created, The value of Matic transferred, Matic senders, number of swaps, and unique swappers.
- Transferring tokens was a popular activity among users.
