Axelar - 10. Squid DEX Usage
Axelar empowers the creation of Interchain dApps, which can expand beyond a single chain by providing a secure cross-chain communication solution for Web3. The security aspect of Axelar is backed by the proven methodology of proof-of-stake, a technique utilized by established platforms such as Ethereum, Polygon, and Cosmos. With cross-chain communication capability, Axelar enables developers to offer a comprehensive user experience, allowing users to interact with any application or asset on any blockchain with ease.
Axelar Squid Router is another component of the Axelar Network that acts as a routing system for inter-chain communication. It routes messages and transactions between different chains using a decentralized routing algorithm that ensures reliability, security, and efficiency.
The main difference between Satellite & Squid is that on Satellite, users can transfer an asset from 1 chain to another chain, but on Squid, users can transfer an asset from 1 chain to ANOTHER ASSET on another chain. Together, these components enable the Axelar Network to provide a seamless and decentralized way for users and developers to interact with different blockchain networks.


To conduct an analysis of the activity of Dexes on the Axelar chain using the data from the "axelar.core.ez_squid" transactions table, the following steps were taken: first, the swapped volume and the source and destination chains were examined. Then, the "axelar.core.ez_squid" table was joined with the "fact_token_transfers" table on the source chain for each network. This allowed for the extraction of relevant data for each Dex contract.
The following metrics are evaluated regardless of source chain and destination chain :
- Total Swapped volume
- Total number of swaps based on DEXes
- Daily number of swappers by DEXes
- Total number of swappers by DEXes
- Daily number of swaps
- Daily swapped volume
- Daily Average swapped volume
- Average swapped volume
The following metrics are examined according to source chain and destination chain :
- Popular DEXes by number of swaps
- Weekly number of swaps
- Weekly number of swappers
- Popular Dexes bu number of swappers
- Weekly swapped volume
- Average swapped volume
- Popular DEXes by swapped volume
