Terra New User Inflow
Jun 27, 2021 - This is my solution for the "New User Inflow" challenge. I've answered it in two sections, where the first is focused on measuring new users for Terra as a whole, and doing the same for both Mirror and Anchor. The second section is focused on the adoption of whales for the new Mirror and Anchor protocols. I hope you learn as much as I did with this fun exercise! Do note that the supporting charts are below the paragraphs.
Compare Native Swaps to Terra Swaps
Jul 11, 2021 - This is my submission for the Compare Native Swaps to Terra Swaps challenge. Here I simply show how native swap volumes compare with TerraSwap volumes for some of the top pairs, while also comparing users that use either or both native swaps and TerraSwaps!
DeFi Users vs. Newbies
Jul 7, 2021 - This is my solution for the DeFi Users vs. Newbies challenge. I appreciated this challenge because it allowed me to understand how decentralized exchanges like Uniswap work in more detail. I really feel that my understanding on blockchain platforms is increasing in maturity from performing these sorts of analyses. Of course, it's also great to be able to understand the platform as whole as well from answering all these interesting questions :D
Swap Transaction Fees (last 30 days) - Hawk
Jun 26, 2021 - This analysis shows the daily swap transaction fees that were paid out for each of the stablecoin denominations in Terra. Do note that there are two versions of the chart. The first shows the USD value of the daily transaction fees paid in each stablecoin, and the second shows the Locally denominated value.
Terra Explorer Hunt - Hawk
Jun 25, 2021 - This is the proof of finishing the Terra Explorer Hunt challenge
Liquidations on Anchor - Lorenzo Ampil
Jul 3, 2021 - This is my submission for the [Hard] Liquidations on Anchor challenge. I have to say this is probably my favorite challenge yet because of how much I learned trying to answer the questions as well as I can. This is also the first time for me to thoroughly read through the development docs to have a better idea about how Anchor liquidations work. From doing this analysis, I'm increasingly convinced that on-chain analysis will be at the core of data-driven decisions for different stakeholders for applications built on top of crypto networks. This includes the analyses traditionally done by financial analysts, auditors, economists, and many more. I hope you learn even a bit from this analysis!
Best Yield-Farming Opportunities for Terra assets on Ethereum
Jun 29, 2021 - This is a quick solution for the Yield-Farming Opportunities Terra challenge. I essentially identified the liquidity pools on Ethereum that you could farm on, and then calculated summary metrics for each of these liquidity pools. These metrics include: The total USD value locked (previous day), users in the past 7 days, and transactions in the past 7 days. Do note that my definition of "users" here is any wallet that either sent or received a transaction from a Terra LP. I was initially planning on deriving APR as well, but had to compromise due to time constraints. I want to be able to derive historical (effective) APRs in perhaps a follow up analysis.
Rewards Analysis
Jul 6, 2021 - This is my solution for the Rewards Analysis challenge for Terra. I appreciated this challenge since it pushed me to understand how staking, delegation, and validation compensation works on the Terra ecosystem!
Tax Rates are Crucial for Terra's Validator Reward Stability
Jul 19, 2021 - This is my submission for the Tax Rate challenge this week. I found this challenge particularly interesting because it goes into the monetary policy of Terra, which is one of the key aspects about the ecosystem that drew me to it.
Anchor debt is sensitive to price drops, but only in the short run!
Jul 10, 2021 - This is my solution for the Anchor Repayments challenge. One of the biggest challenges here was coming up with an "outstanding debt" number that was consistent with the actual Anchor dashboard. I found that the discrepancies were quite small before the May 2021 crash, but it become a lot worse after. This makes me suspect that the difference is due to how liquidation repayments are recorded on the `msgs` table. Despite the above, I did find that the general direction of the trend even post May 2021, are quite consistent with the official Anchor dashboard so I do believe that we can still derive accurate insights from this.
Liquidity Pools on TerraSwap
Jul 5, 2021 - This is my submission for the [Hard] Liquidity Pools on TerraSwap challenge. I appreciated this exercise because it allowed me to understand the specifics of how an automated market maker (AMM) like TerraSwap works. The way I'm going through the analysis is that I'll start with the daily swap value on TerraSwap in the last 3 months, and then move into identifying the "top" liquidity pools over time at the daily, weekly, and monthly levels. Also do note that all values have been expressed in USD to ensure comparability.
